Young Jeon

 

Young Jeon is a curator and cultural worker based in New York. Young holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Cultural Management from Pratt Institute in New York and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Korean Art and French Literature from Korea University in Seoul. Her creative and curatorial work focuses on artists in the Asian diaspora, Korean identity, gender, and new media. 

With wide-encompassing experience in the art world in Seoul, Paris, Lausanne, and New York, Young organized exhibitions, projects, and cultural events at art institutions and galleries. Young co-curated an Augmented Reality art exhibition, Ascension, in Venice, Italy, and advised galleries and corporations as an art consultant at Spark Art Management, New York. At ACAW (Asia Contemporary Art Week), she liaised with leading institutions and international artists and contributed to the curatorial programming. She supported production and PR for art fairs such as Armory Show and UNTITLED, Art Miami Beach while serving as the content curator-organizer for KANA (Korean Association of New York Artists). Young has significantly contributed to the curatorial department at Brooklyn Museum’s Korean Art galleries.

Her written work, interviews, and essays have been published in Public Art Magazine, Zer01ne, Critic-al and Art Triangle. 

She is the recipient of the AHL Foundation Curatorial Fellow 2019, a former member of the Skowhegan Council, and a Director at Space 776 Gallery. She is currently a Founder/Director at Iron Velvet Art Agency.
